2025: Aug. Wrap-Up + Sep. Intro

August!
Starting My Second Year of College
If you told August 2024 me that I was looking forward to college (and extremely excited to be back now that I am), she would’ve laughed in your face. I’m so excited to be hanging out with my college friends again, immerse myself in learning, and to just really embrace the experience because I wasn’t able to last year (due to being incredibly homesick).
Working
Honestly, most of my summer was spent working and August was no different! I enjoy where I work but I’m definitely glad to be able to take some breaks while I go back to school.
Hanging Out With Friends
Surprisingly, I actually had a social life this summer! I hung out with a lot of people in August which was a priority for me since I won’t see most of my (non-college) friends until we all come back home for winter break.
Reading Highlights
In an effort to get out of a major reading slump I challenged myself to read 2 books a day for all of August. I was successful which means I read 62 books in August! I will say that most of these books were novellas/short novels but it still counts because my goal was to encourage myself to consume literature without pressuring myself about what I was reading (i.e. what’s popular).
My favorite book in the Month of August was Flawless (Elsie Silver) with Grave Flowers (Autumn Krause) as a very close runner-up.
Writing Highlights
Funny enough, I don’t have any! I actually took the summer off from writing because after spending just under two years drafting the same project, I needed an extended break before diving into self-edits for it.
It’s always okay to allow yourself time!
September
The Second Year of College Continues
I had my first real week of the semester the first week of September (the one week in August is always going over the syllabus). I’m taking one class on Mondays/Wednesdays and four back-to-back classes on Tuesdays/Thursdays. I’m absolutely exhausted after I get back to my dorm on “T” days.
One fun new development is that I’m working as a “Peer Writing Tutor” in my campus’s library for two hours a week. It’s unpaid because I’m getting credit for it in one of my classes.
Website + Instagram
I’m sure it comes as no surprise to anyone who’s been keeping up with my Insta stories but I’m working really hard to revamp my website! I have a whole blog post about it.
As for my Instagram, I’m trying really hard to focus the majority of my content towards my book (The Rescue). For the month of September I’m planning on 60% of my posts/videos being about/related to my book. I’m also getting back into prepping my content ahead of time. Currently, I’m prepped all the way to Sep. 16.
Overall…
I’m trying to take it easy this month, focus on school and behind-the-scenes stuff for my business.
